On "The Concord & Clayton Faults"

Guest Speaker Martin Steinpress will be speaking on Geology, Plate Tectonics and Earthquake Hazards.
The Concord and Clayton Faults slice through the Ygnacio and Clayton valleys and have been central to each town’s location and development. As part of the San Andreas Fault System, they form part of the plate boundary between the North American and Pacific tectonic plates. A new study has revealed a previously unknown creeping strand of the Concord Fault. What’s the risk of a damaging earthquake in the future and what preparations can we make? Come learn about our local faults and have your questions answered.

Martin Steinpress, MS, California Professional Geologist and Hydrogeologist(retired), is a Concord resident and had a 30-year environmental consulting career across California and the U.S. He has made numerous presentations to professional associations, regulatory agencies and the public and was a CSUEB geology lecturer. He regularly gives lectures and leads geology field trips for non- geologists on Bay Area geology.​​​​​
