CLAYTON VALLEY WOMAN'S CLUB

General Meeting Tuesday, April 14th 2026

Gathering 9.30 am, Meeting 10 am

with Guest Speakers

Gail McCausland van Tassell (current CHS President)

& Vivian Boyd (current Vice President)

from the Concord Historical Society

Ms Van Tassell lives in Concord with her husband and finds time to play pickleball. After 40 years working as an elementary teacher, she retired from MDUSD. Wanting to still stay active in the community,  she joined the Concord Historical Society in 2017. She has served as Secretary, Vice President and is now the Society’s President.

Ms. Boyd is the current Vice President. She lives in Pleasant Hill with her husband and cat, Mischa. She was raised in Concord. She was a teacher, curriculum specialist and principal in MDUSD. Ms. Boyd joined the Concord Historical Society in 2006. She served as President for six years and is currently the Society’s Vice President and Resource Center director.

The Concord Historical Society was formed in the 1970s by a group of local residents that wanted to preserve the past for the future. The president was Ruth Galindo, Spanish teacher at Mt. Diablo High School. Her family was one of the founding families of Concord.
Their program is: The Indigenous People and the Founding Families of Concord. They will discuss the Chupcan tribelet that thrived in the Ygnacio Valley area. Then they will share how the Pacheco and Galindo families started with a land grant to create a ranch that grew into the town of Concord.

Please join us and bring your friends to hear this fascinating program.
